Statute

The Commission is a high organ of the Electoral Administration and has competence to discipline and monitor all voters registration and electoral operations for the sovereign elected organs, for the autonomous regions, local authorities and European Parliament, as well as regarding the referendum.

THE COMMISSION IS AN INDEPENDENT ORGAN, WORKING BEFORE THE PORTUGUESE PARLIAMENT AND GOVERNS ITSELF ACCORDING TO THE LAW 71/78, OF 27 DECEMBER

Composition

A Justice of the Supreme Court of Justice, to be appointed by the Superior Council of Judges, that will be the President;

Renowned merit citizens, to be appointed by the Assembly of the Republic, forming a list and proposed each by a parliamentary group;

A technician appointed by each of the governmental departments responsible for Internal Affairs, Foreign Affairs and Media.
